John Traenkenschuh recently retired from a Fortune 100 manufacturing company, thanks to incentives that he and others received to retire early. His last two years created an Ethical Hacking program and allowed him to earn three GIAC certifications: GWAPT, GAWN, and GPEN. Never one to sit still, he is working on a book, working on a rewrite to the 2007 Check Point Firewall Benchmark, and fleshing out a presentation on IoT security issues (and opportunities). In addition to the GIAC certifications, he has earned a CISSP-ISSAP, both Check Point designations CCSE and CCSA, and was awarded Most Valuable Professional (MVP) by Microsoft for teaching Visual Basic at the local University, one continually rated in the top 10 by U.S. News and World Report's survey. He is a patent holder for four security inventions, and is fascinated by opportunities for 'mesh', multiple network firewall designs. Even during real retirement, John hopes to stay active in the Information Security community, volunteering to help however he can.
